BLOOMBERG DIGITAL ARTS INITIATIVE 2013 - PUBLIC WORKSHOP
This October, a swarm of flying quadcopters descends upon Hong Kong and invades the city in a series of site-specific performances. Winner of this year's Bloomberg Digital Arts Initiative, artist duo Kenny Wong and Marco De Mutiis present Liminal, an innovative project that gives Hong Kong a glimpse of the endless exciting possibilities of digital art. Flying in formation, a swarm of buzzing quadcopters inhabit vertical spaces between skyscrapers, elevators, stairwells, shopping malls, flyovers… encouraging us as a community to re-examine the space around us and the interactions of our tensely crowded daily commutes.
Alongside these public performances, the artists present a series of experimental workshops. Participants are given the opportunity to explore how art can be merged with digital technologies, and to create their own works. The Bloomberg Digital Arts Initiative aims to encourage artistic innovation in the field and to develop new audiences for digital art in Hong Kong. Liminal takes place in Oct, after a three-month artwork creation period. To participate in our experimental digital arts workshops, please email your full name, age, email address, mobile number, school name (if any) and district to adam@hkyaf.com for registration. Places are on a first come, first served basis.
